Loud and fucking ferocious. Manchester duo, The Hyena Kill have smashed it out the park with their début album, Atomised. Having released a few EP’s and having a catalogue of live shows behind them, this is a double act that have cemented their status as one of the best new hard rock acts to break on to the scene.
The jungle-esque drums in opening track Crosses are perfectly teamed with their thrashy guitars and has to be one of my favourite album openers. Going on to tracks like Your Loss and Still Sick, the album progresses into something more heavy, and still has the hard DIY sound that many of us love. Talking about the album, vocalist and guitarist Stecven Dobb says “There’s nothing more therapeutic than screaming your head off,”. I couldn’t agree more. The 8 track album is the noise album of the year for me so far. It has strong influences of Deftones and Queens of the Stone Age, and for me that is a match made in heaven.
Atomised is one of the best alternative rock albums I have heard in a while, especially for a début. The mix of grunge and classic rock is just a match made in heaven. Get this album in you collection now! It is noise, alt-rock perfection.
